What does Driveway Design offer ?
Driveway Design offer you the best in block paving for your driveway, patio or footpath. With over 15 years of experience, we can provide you with an outstanding, hardwearing and virtually maintenance free solution. We also offer installation of decking and total landscaping as well as re-design projects.
How do you install a driveway or patio ?
We use industry recognised procedures to install our block paving driveways. Patios can require the use of different procedures mainly due to the large selection of products and also due to customer requirements. A more details explanation of our installation procedures can be viewed <HERE>
 Is a Deposit Required?
No a deposit is never required and payment is only due once you are completely happy with the work that has been carried out by us.
Can I receive a price over the phone?
No, all our quotations are based on a 'No obligation Free Site Survey and Quotation'. This takes into consideration many things such as site access, ground levels, preparation, drainage, manhole covers, steps, etc.
What if I am unsure about what I am looking for?
We can supply different quotations for different materials to enable you to decide which price better fits your budget or in different phases as some people decide to get the work carried out at different stages.
What Paving Manufacturers do you use?
The two main companies we use are 'Paver Systems Ltd' and 'Marshalls' as we find they both have a wide range of very popular blocks, slabs and walling to enable every job we do to still look individual, but we can supply from other manufacturer's if you would prefer.
Can we view some of your previous work?
Some people like to view our previous work to either help them with their choice of product or colour and also to see the quality of the finished jobs we leave. Either call our office or email us for a list of work recently completed in your area. Also, the pictures in our PROJECTS section show examples of our work.
What help to you give to help us to decide which product and colour to
 choose?
To help you choose which products and colours compliment your house you can:-
   - Visit our display area.
   - View previous work.
   - Receive photographs from our large gallery of photographs by email.
   - Book another appointment for Ian to bring samples to your house
 What is Efflorescence?
All concrete products may, in their early life, appear to lose some intensity of colour and experience a milky-white stain on the face of the product. This is efflorescence staining. It is a temporary phenomenon and is in no way detrimental to the performance of the material and responsibility cannot be accepted for its occurrence. Clay products may also suffer from a temporary white stain called efflorescence. This is quite different from efflorescence in concrete products and is caused by soluble salts within the clay being transported by water to the surface as they dry out. Responsibility cannot be accepted for its occurrence.
 What Maintenance is required?
To keep your Driveway or Patio looking the best we recommend that paving products receive periodic cleaning to maintain appearance such as: -
   - Regular sweeping to prevent build-up of detritus.

   - Care should be taken when buying cleaning agents as some varieties
contain a concentration of acid, which can adversely affect the
appearance of concrete products, clay and natural stone. Please
      follow manufacturers guidelines.

   - For general cleaning of dirt and algae, vigorous brushing with a stiff
yard broom with plenty of hot detergent solution (washing up liquid
or non-bio washing powder), thoroughly rinsed with clean water
      should suffice.

   - Some light coloured blocks do emphasise tyre marks and oils spills
on the paving. It must be accepted that these products will need
more maintenance if the overall appearance is to be maintained.
Again a hot detergent solution as soon as possible should suffice.

   - Repeated treatment may be required for paved areas sited beneath
trees or in permanent/near permanent shade. In certain
circumstances, prolonged contact with wet leaves can result in
staining of the paved area. Such contact should be avoided
      wherever practical.

   - Ensure any sand washed away between the blocks is replaced
immediately with 'Dry Joint-filling sand to prevent movement in the
      blocks.
 Do you recommend Power-washing?
Power-washing with high-pressure equipment is not normally required and should be used with caution. Should these methods be employed, the following precautions should be observed: -
   - Paving should be thoroughly swept to remove detritus (loose debris)
that could act as an abrasive agent when moved by the force of a
      power jet.

   - A trial area should be tested before larger scale power-washing
      takes place.

   - No more than a medium pressure should be applied when washing
      paving.

   - The power-washing lance should be held at an oblique angle to the
paving and at least 200mm (8") from the surface.

   - If excess sand is washed from the joints during the washing
exercise, it is important that the joints are re-sanded with similar
      materials upon completion.

   - If mortar joints between pavings are damaged during power washing
they should be re-pointed/made good with fresh pointing as
required, to maintain the integrity of the paving.
